The Kano State Police command have arrested 10 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in the state in the past two weeks.
The State Commissioner of police, Habu A. Sani, made this known during a press conference held yesterday at the Bompai Police headquarters.
He said on November 20, one Suleman Abdullahi, 20, of Zango Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State was arrested at Pantami Quarters, Gombe State in connection with a case of kidnapping of a 4-year old victim at Zangon Rimi Quarters, Ungogo LGA Kano State on the 10th November, 2019.
He added that the victim was successfully reunited with his family and the suspect had confessed to the crime together with his accomplice already in custody.
The CP said some suspected armed robbers/kidnappers, who demanded a ransom of N1,750,000 from their victims, were also arrested after exchange of gun fire with a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of Operation Puff-Adder.
He listed the suspects as, Usman Yusuf, known as Samarta, 20; Rabiu Kabir Mohammed, 19; and Safiyanu A. Sagir, 25; all of Fada Village Gwarzo LGA Kano State.
He added that “Suspects were rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment, adding that discrete investigation was in progress to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate.”
Other achievements recorded by the police, according to the commissioner, was the arrest of suspected armed robbery suspects, Sabiu Dahiru, 21, of Gwarzo LGA Kano and Hussaini Abbas, 22, of Malumfashi LGA Katsina State as well as the arrest of one Chimeze Nneji of Anambra State and Jochuckwu Victor of Sabon Gari Area Kano in possession of 14 rolls of Tramadol tablets valued N2.4million.
