Police in Kano State have arrested 107 suspects and recovered 473 dangerous weapons as part of a renewed crackdown on crime, a campaign called “Operation Kukan Kura.”

According to Police Commissioner Adamu Bakori, the operation has been extended to all the 44 local government areas in the state and has significantly reduced thuggery-related violence, also known as Fadan Daba.

Bakori said the steady decline in criminal activities highlights the effectiveness of the strategy and the vital role of community members in supporting the initiative.

In August alone, the command arrested 107 people for various major crimes, including armed robbery, illicit drug trafficking, motor vehicle and motorcycle theft, and thuggery, the CP said.

He added that since the launch of “Operation Kukan Kura” on July 1, 2025, a total of 473 dangerous weapons and a large quantity of illicit drugs have been recovered from suspected criminals.

Bakori commended the selfless service of police officers and restated the command’s commitment to refining its strategies, leveraging community collaboration, and using technological resources to tackle emerging security challenges in the state.
