Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 11 suspects, including two females, over alleged involvement in cult-related activities in the state.
The suspects were arrested during separate raids on cultists’ hideouts in Asaba and its environs.
The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the operatives, acting on intelligence, raided a suspected cult hideout at Eagle Square along Okpanam Road, Asaba, leading to the arrest of nine suspects, including two females.
According to him, a Beretta pistol, a battle axe and a cutlass were recovered from the suspects.
He said in a separate operation, the police arrested one Christopher Ogidigbo, 28, of Ogharaefe Town in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, and recovered a locally made revolver pistol from him.
Edafe further disclosed that in another operation along the Ughelli/Patani Road, operatives intercepted a Lexus Jeep driven by one Felix Ike.
He added that a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of an English-made pump-action gun and 40 rounds of live cartridges.
He said the suspects and exhibits are in custody while investigations are ongoing.
