The Police in Jigawa State have arrested suspected vandals and thieves in various locations following the directive of the Commissioner of Police (CP), AT Abdullahi, to all PDOs to embark on massive raids of all black spots and criminal hideouts in their areas of responsibility in an effort to reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum across the state.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, in an interview with newsmen, said during the raids, six suspects: Abdulkarim Ibrahim (35), of Kofar Yamma Babura LGA; Aliyu Abdullahi (25) of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA: Naziru Ibrahim (23) of Katoge Quarters; Abdullahi Garba (35) of Nguru LGA, Yobe State; Munzali Suraja (20) of Koren Shehu village, Taura LGA; and Haruna Amadu (20) of Rugar Sarkin Fada village, Taura LGA, were arrested.

He said dried leaves suspected to be hemp, 496 Exol tablets, 123 tramadol tablets, nine bottles of Pentazemin injection, three syringes and one bag of shoes were recovered from them.

Adam said that on 02/02/2024 information received from a source in S/Tankarkar Police Division had it that one unregistered Boxer motorcycle was stolen in Maitsamiya village, S/Tankarkar LGA.

He explained that, “A police patrol team was detailed, and fortunately while on patrol, intercepted a man with a Boxer motorcycle strongly suspected to be a stolen one. On sighting the patrol team, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and escaped. Meanwhile, effort is intensified with a view to arresting the fleeing suspect for prosecution.”
