The police in Benue State have arrested 13 suspects in connection with the murder of a musician in Makurdi, Benue State.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement on Wednesday, noted that the police was now in the pursuit of the gang leader who masterminded the killing of the youngster.

She said, “You will recall that on 13th April, 2022, Mr Terungwa Ikon Albert of behind Okiki Hotel, Makurdi, was reported missing by his father. Upon receipt of this information, detectives from the command were deployed to investigate the case.

“During investigation, detectives from Operation Zenda Joint Task Force arrested Victor Ahambe, Chichi Maxwell, Andrew Onche Okoliko, Terdoo Tersugh and nine (9) others in connection with the case.

“The suspects confessed to be members of the same secret cult and participated in the killing of the victim on the River Benue bank.

“They stated further that on 13/4/2022 while they were drinking in a beer parlour on Terguma Street, North Bank, Makurdi, their leader, Doggy, came with the late Terungwa Ikon and bought a drink for him, ordered him to the River Benue bank where he robbed him of his belongings, removed a pistol from his pocket and shot him on the head. Other members contributed to the killing by cutting him with matchets and the corpse was dropped in the river.”

Anene added that investigation was ongoing to arrest suspects at large and other cult members, especially Doggy, stressing the need for members of the public who had information about the cultists’ leader to contact the command for necessary action.
