The police in Lagos State have arrested two members of a syndicate, Ayuba Oyegbele and Ojo Gbolahan, who specialise in spraying pepper in their victim’s eyes before robbing them.
The suspects were arrested while trying to rob a commercial motorcyclist in the Alagbado area at the weekend following complaints about their activities around Alagbado and Abule-Egba areas.
Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this, said, “The suspects told the rider to take them to Obasanjo Bridge. On getting to the area, one of the suspects, later identified as Ojo Gbolahan, came down from the bike and pretended as if he wanted to pay but instead brought out dried pepper and blew it into the rider’s eyes. In the process, the duo started dragging and beating the rider with the intention of robbing him of his motorcycle. Fortunately, passersby who saw how the rider was shouting for help came to his rescue.
“The suspects attempted to flee but we’re overpowered by the crowd. They were subsequently taken to the Alagbado Division. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are in the habit of robbing motorcycles.”
