The Niger State Police Command has arrested two friends over the alleged kidnap of a five-year-old boy in Suleja, Niger State.

Shamsu Salisu and Zubairu Mohammed were said to have kidnapped Musa Salisu and demanded N100,000 from his parents.

The duo was paraded in Minna, yesterday, by the command’s spokesman, DSP Mohammed Abubakar.

Abubakar said the father of the boy, Alhaji Salisu Mani, reported to the police that his son got missing and later got anonymous calls informing him that the boy was kidnapped.

“On receipt of the compliant, a team of policemen from ‘A’ Division Suleja during a painstaking investigation arrested Shamsu Salisu aged 23 years of Osata Kwamba Suleja and one Zubairu Mohammed of Ungwan Dawaki Suleja,” the PPRO explained.

He however said the victim has been rescued unhurt and reunited with his family.

In an interview with journalists, the suspects said they wanted to use the ransom to pay for space in Suleja market from where one of them sold tomatoes.

Meanwhile, the police have also arrested a 27-year-old man, Mohammed Abubakar, for possession of counterfeit currency in N1000 denomination amounting to N183,000 in  Mokwa market of Niger State.
