The Kano State Police Command on Thursday said it has arrested two notorious thugs for allegedly inciting violence and brandishing dangerous weapons in videos circulated on social media.
The thugs identified as Mohammed Isma’il, (Linga) and Sani Abdulsalam (Guchi) are both residents of Dala Quarters of Dala Local Government Area in Kano metropolis and were arrested in an intelligence-led operation following multiple online posts showing them wielding weapons and rallying youth in their neighbourhood.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a sword and two clubs were recovered from the thugs during their arrest.
Kiyawa said the thugs had been using platforms like TikTok and Facebook to share videos that instilled fear and threatened public peace.

“Their actions, authorities noted, contributed to growing concerns over youth involvement in criminal activities across the state,” the PPRO said.
Kiyawa also said the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered the operation, has also directed a comprehensive investigation into the suspects’ activities.
He said the CP has also warned individuals engaging in similar behaviour, saying that anyone found posting videos of themselves with weapons or participating in acts of thuggery will face arrest and prosecution.
