The police in Jigawa State have arrested two persons, Mohammed Abdulkadir Sa’idu and Usman Ahmed, for alleged theft of two vehicles in Gumel Local Government Area.
Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Rasheed Akintunde, said the suspects met their waterloo after all the police divisions in the area were alerted about the crime. He said they were intercepted on their way to Kano by the police patrol team in Garki Local Government Area.
He added that the theft was reported to the police following a distress call from Mohammed Barau and Isa Sa’idu Jajeri, both residents of Gumel, complaining that their vehicles, a Honda Civic with Registration Number, GML 155 JA and a Honda Bramah with Registration Number, AZ 369 NSR, were stolen.
Akintunde maintained that the suspects, who came to Jigawa from neighbouring Kano State to perpetrate the crime, had earlier abandoned one of the vehicles, adding that upon interrogation they told the police that their gang leader was living in Kano.
The CP explained that the police had since recovered the stolen vehicles and the master key the suspects were using, saying as soon as investigation was completed they would be charged to court.
