The police in Jigawa State have arrested two persons allegedly in possession of a locally made Revolver Pistol and single barrel gun along Birnin Kudu road in Birnin Kudu LGA of the state.

The spokesman of the state police command, SP Abdu Jinjiri, said the suspects, Abdullahi Ishiaku and Suleman Alhaji Yahaya hail from Nabordo village in Toro LGA of neighbouring Bauchi State.

He said they were arrested by a police highway patrol team while they were travelling on a motorcycle.

He added that the suspects have confessed to be the gang terrorizing Tsamiyar Tarnaga area of Birnin Kudu LGA.

“The suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms. 

Because of the recent armed robbery cases along Birnin Kudu highway, the police had to deploy a patrol team on the highway.

“The suspects have confessed to be armed robbers. Also found on them was a locally made single barrel gun, a revolver pistol and seven cartridges. They will soon be charged to court,” he said.
