Two women suspected of being child traffickers have been apprehended by the police in Adamawa State for the alleged abduction of three teenage girls.
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the arrests in a statement in Yola on Wednesday.
He explained that police detectives attached to the command intercepted the three teenage girls at the Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park.
The release identified the victims as 14-year-old Naomi Linus, 16-year-old Agnes Thomas, and 15-year-old Patience Justine. They were reportedly brought to Yola for onward transfer to Abuja under the guise of securing menial domestic work. The suspects, according to the statement, are Hasiya Yuguda (35) of NEPA Quarters, Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar (40) of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South LGA.
The statement read, “On February 17, 2026, operatives of the Command attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park. The teenagers were identified as Naomi Linus (14), Agnes Thomas (16), and Patience Justine (15).
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the minors were deceitfully brought to Yola and were in the process of being transported to Abuja under the pretext of securing employment for menial domestic work.
“Further investigation also implicated one Simon Boniface (38) of Bitakoyali, Zing LGA, Taraba State, who is currently assisting the police in the ongoing investigation.
“The rescued teenagers are in protective custody, and efforts are ongoing to trace and reunite them with their respective families as the investigation continues.”
