Two suspects specializing in snatching motorcycles for kidnappers operating in the forest have been arrested by men of the Edo State Security Corps.
The suspects, whose names were given as Yusuf and Zubairu, were arrested in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
It was gathered that the suspects are members of a syndicate that steals motorcycles across the Edo Central Senatorial District and delivers them to kidnappers in the forest.
The kidnappers allegedly use these motorcycles to enter towns to purchase food and collect ransoms from victims’ families.
The suspects were apprehended by the Corps, who had been on their trail following a tip-off. Eight motorcycles allegedly stolen by the suspects for the kidnappers were recovered in the forest.
The Deputy Corps Commander of Operations, Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, stated that intensive foot and motorized patrols have been established throughout Esan land.
The two suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
