Police arrest 2 suspects for theft at boarding school

The Jigawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspects who allegedly trespassed into Government Unity Secondary School, Malam Madori, and stole 19 students’ metal beds and 4 mattresses.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who stated this in an interview with newsmen said on 27th Dec. 2023 at about 1500hrs, information from Government Unity Senior Secondary School (GUSSS) Malam Madori revealed that on the same date at about 1300hrs, unknown thieves connived and trespassed into the school premises and carted away with nineteen (19) students’ metal beds and four (4) mattresses.

He said upon receipt of the report, detectives attached to M/Madori Police Station swiftly swung into action.

He continued that the gallant men successfully apprehended one Muhammad Nadabo ‘m’, 40yrs, and one Auwalu Muhammad ‘m’, 34yrs, all of M/Madori town and recovered the stolen properties in their possession.

He added that the suspects were taken to the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) for a discreet investigation, noting that the suspects confessed to the offence.

DSP Shiisu maintained that all the suspects had since been arraigned before the court.

The Jigawa command’s spokesperson pointed out that on 26th December 2023 at about 1330hrs, one Zakiya Abdulhadi ‘F’, 20yrs, of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA, reported at Babura Police Station that on 24th December, 2023 at about 0900hrs, some unscrupulous elements trespassed into her house and stole millet valued at sixteen thousand five hundred naira (N16,500.00k). Similarly, the same elements made away with the sum of forty-four-thousand-naira cash (N44,000.00k).

He noted that upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen on surveillance/patrol were alerted.

 “Later on, one Abubakar Habibu ‘m’ age 12yrs of Kofar Arewa quarters, Babura LGA, and one Abdullahi Mujitafa ‘m’ age 19yrs of Kofar Gabas, Babura LGA, were arrested with the remaining millet and the sum of five hundred naira only (N500).

“On interrogation, the suspects admitted to have conspired and trespassed into the complainant’s house and stolen the aforementioned items,” he said.

He added that the suspects further mentioned one Habiba Haladu ‘F’, 55yrs, of Kofar Arewa, Babura LGA as their regular receiver to whom they had sold the stolen properties.

He said efforts were being intensified to arrest the receiver.
