The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men over alleged theft, criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm following an operation in Keffi Local Government Area.

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the arrest followed a report lodged on May 30, 2026, at the Keffi Divisional Headquarters by a resident of Kofar Hausa.

The complainant alleged that one Shafiu Abdul-Rauf trespassed into his room and attempted to steal his Android phone but fled after an alarm was raised.

According to the statement, detectives launched an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of Abdul-Rauf and another suspect, Usman Abdulmumuni, both residents of the Mayanka area of Keffi.

The command said a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge, two cutlasses, a knife, two Tecno Android phones, an Itel mobile phone, a bunch of keys and other items described as incriminating.

The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to determine their possible involvement in other criminal activities.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended officers for their prompt response and professionalism.

He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support crime-fighting efforts across the state.
