The Gombe State Police Command has arrested 21 suspects over various crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, gun running, cattle rustling and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, yesterday, in Gombe, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Garba Mukaddas, said six of the suspects were members of a syndicate that specialized in gun running, armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling in Bauchi and Gombe states.
He said the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had on February 2 arrested one Babawuro Alhaji Hamza, 38, Danlami Kadiri, 38, Seth Adamu, 38, Gerson Regan, 28, and Mubbappa all indigenes of Gombe State and Michael Garkuwa, 40, of Tafawa Balewa LGA from Bauchi State, over a case of criminal conspiracy, gun running, armed robbery, cattle rustling and being in possession of illegal arms and ammunitions.
CP Mukaddas said the first suspect, Babawuro Hamza, was arrested at Gujuba village of Akko LGA of Gombe State in possession of AK47 rifle with four rounds of live ammunitions and his arrest led to the arrest of the other suspects, with one Baba Manu Makeri still at large.
Mukaddas said all the suspects have confessed to their crimes and would be charged to court.
