The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 22 suspects in connection with criminal activities, including vandalism, rustling, fraud and armed robbery.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Shiisu Adam, said the arrests were made between July 29 and August 22, 2024, following a sustained campaign of visibility policing, intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies.

He said the suspects were found to be in possession of a range of exhibits including two vehicles, four motorcycles, six cows, 50 A4 papers, fake dollars, N59,820 and vandalised cables.

Shiisu said that in one of the cases, a motorcycle was recovered from the suspect, who fraudulently obtained N2m from his victim.

He said in another case, two cows were recovered from the suspects, who rustled them from a farm in Birniwa LGA.

He further said, “Three of the suspects were arrested for selling adulterated fertiliser to farmers in Hadejia Emirate. The suspects produced the adulterated fertiliser and sold it to farmers, causing significant financial losses.”
