Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of the Black Axe while holding a cultism-related meeting in Edo.
The Edo State Police Commissioner, Umoru Ozigi, said the suspects, Nnamdi Mbanusi, 43, Ehis Albert, 38, and Obazee Ogbe, 39, were arrested by the command’s anti-cultism team working on intelligence report.
He said the police received information that cult members were meeting at an uncompleted building in Ogbe quarters, Benin City, where the suspects were subsequently arrested.
He said other members of the cult escaped while six live cartridges were recovered from those arrested after they were searched.

The commissioner further disclosed that one Chinedu Okuoliseh, 27, was arrested during a stop-and-search by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the command along the Benin-Agbor road bye-pass.
He said the suspect was arrested when the police intercepted a Lexus 350 saloon car with registration number Abuja GWA 960 BP.
He said one locally made pistol was recovered from him, adding that the suspect claimed he bought the gun at the cost of N400,000 from a serving member of the Nigeria Air Force.
The CP said investigation is ongoing.
