Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a group of armed robbery suspects who robbed one Otuaga Samson, of his Toyota Previa space Bus, with registration number LSD 497 XN, loaded with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks valued N8,050,000.

The robbers were allegedly led by Olowo  Kolade, who snatched the vehicle and goods from his master at gunpoint at Efon Alaaye, in Ekiti State.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Joseph Eribo, while briefing newsmen in his office in a case of conspiracy and armed robbery, said the suspects included Olowo Kolade, Ismail Sofiq and Ajayi Olatunji. He said the exhibit recovered from them included packs of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.

The CP said on March 3rd, at about 19:30 hours, one Otuaga Samson, of opposite Deeper Life Bible Church, Ikere road, in Ado-Ekiti was coming from Lagos State with his Toyota Previa space Bus with registration number LSD 497 XN loaded with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks valued at N8,050,000, when he was robbed by a gang of armed robbers led by his driver, Olowo Kolade, at Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State.

Eribo, said based on intelligence gathered, the key suspect, Olowo Kolade, relocated to Ibadan where he was arrested, while the goods were recovered in his possession.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed and stated that he had sold the vehicle to one of his accomplices, Ismail Sofiq, at Araromi market gate Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, who dismantled the vehicle and sold the parts.”

The police boss said investigation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the remaining gang members and their weapons, while the arrested suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
