The police in Benue State have arrested three suspected cultists during a raid on their hideout in the Kuje area, located along the Daudu–Ulkpam Road in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Udeme Edet, said the raid was carried out on Sunday at about 12pm following intelligence regarding cult-related activities in the area.

Edet noted that six suspects were initially apprehended during the operation, but three were confirmed for custody following a preliminary screening.

Our correspondent reports that the arrests came less than 24 hours after four other suspected cultists were apprehended in separate operations across the state.

Three of those suspects were allegedly linked to the killing of two persons in the Kuje area of Daudu.

The PPRO identified the suspects arrested during the Kuje raid as Terdue Torkaa (19), Sunday Mnguaorga (18), and Ihom Matthew (19)—all males and residents of the Kuje area in Daudu.

She explained that the suspects are alleged members of a cult group that previously attacked a resident, identified as Monday Inase, at the Torkula settlement in Guma LGA, during which firearms were reportedly used.
