The Yobe State Police Command has arrested three suspected transformer vandals and recovered stolen components in Bursari Local Government Area.
The suspects—Muhammad Auwali, 51; Inusa Lawan, 53; and Hassan Ibrahim, 27—are from the Bursari and Gashu’a axis of Bade LGA. A fourth suspect, identified as Ozu, is at large.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Garin Alkali Division acting on credible intelligence.
He said the suspects vandalised a transformer at the YTV Booster Station in Garin Alkali on April 14, 2026.
“They dismantled the equipment and sold part of the metal components,” he said.
The suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation.
According to Abdulkarim, they admitted selling some of the parts to a buyer for N250,000, out of which N150,000 had been paid.
He said parts of the vandalised transformer have been recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kamfani Jibrin, commended the operatives and ordered intensified operations across the state.
