The FCT police command has arrested 38 persons for allegedly engaging in illegal drugs activities and causing public nuisance in Wuse District of the city.

The operation, which was carried out by a team from Wuse Zone 3 Division on Monday night, led to the arrests at Bureau de Change Avenue, Wuse Zone 4, Adetokumbo Ademola Crescent, Wuse 2, and two other locations, a fly-over bridge, and a motor park, all behind Wuse market area, of the city centre.

A police source disclosed that items comprising various kinds of illegal drugs were recovered during the operation.

Confirming the operation, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Zone 3, CSP Mamman Joseph, explained that 28 persons among the suspects found with illegal drugs in their possession would be referred to the narcotic drugs section under the command’s CID department for further investigation.

He said the remaining 15 persons arrested over public nuisance would be charged before a magistrate court for prosecution.
