Police arrest 4 suspected cultists in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended four suspected cultists for their alleged involvement in cult activities within the state.

The suspects—Solomon Oboigbe (27), Fidelis Omale (26), Julius Oseyomon (64), and Abraham Erumosele Momo (54)—were arrested in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspects were arrested on March 24, 2026, following credible intelligence.

According to her, the police received a report regarding the suspects and carried out a well-coordinated operation in the area. 

During the raid, four English pump-action guns were recovered, alongside nine live cartridges and three expended cartridges.

Ikoedem noted that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the recovered firearms were obtained through illegal means.

The suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution following the conclusion of a diligent investigation.
