Four kidnap suspects who the police said were responsible for the recent killings in Zamfara State have been arrested.
Hamisu Sani, Shehu Sani, Yusuf Mande and Lawal Abubakar, were nabbed from their hideouts in Bauchi and Zamfara states by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team were (IRT) led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari.
The police team also recovered over five AK-47 rifles and several rounds of ammunition from the gang.
Their arrest followed a directive from the IGP to Kyari, to ensure that armed bandits responsible for the widespread killings in Zamfara State are rounded up before the commencement of the 2019 general elections.
Police said the suspects had all confessed to their involvement in series of killings in Zamfara State.
Force Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh confirmed the arrests. Jimoh said the gang’s arms supplier admitted supplying them well over 10 Ak-47 assault rifles.
