Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers and recovered two AK-47 rifles from them.

The suspects—Jabir Saleh, Musa Lawal (alias Gambo), Gaddafi Iliyasu, and Salau Haliru—are alleged members of a robbery syndicate terrorizing the Uselu N’ahor communities in the Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspects were arrested through an enhanced, intelligence-driven surveillance operation.

According to her, following reports of their criminal activities, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, deployed tactical teams to the affected community to reinforce security and flush out hoodlums.

She explained that the operatives combed the entire community, ransacking identified flash points and hideouts, which led to the arrest of the four suspects.

During the operation, two AK-47 rifles and two magazines loaded with 33 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.

Ikoedem added that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the exercise.
