The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 41 suspects, including key actors, in connection with the gruesome murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, CSP Baba Ali.
Daily Trust had reported on Monday that the DPO was attacked after enraged residents accused him of arresting and torturing a suspect to death.
The crowd stormed the police station, set it on fire, and severely beat the DPO, who later died in the hospital from his injuries.
Several vehicles were also torched or vandalised during the violent clash between the youths and the police.

Kano State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Thursday, described the incident as a direct attack on the sacrifices made by security personnel.
He said the police are working relentlessly to ensure that all perpetrators, including those responsible for related acts of arson and mischief, are brought to justice.
“The command expresses deep shock and sadness over the brutal killing of CSP Baba Ali while on active duty. This senseless killing is a grave attack on the very fabric of our society,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, vowing that no stone would be left unturned in the quest for justice.
