Police arrest 5 suspects, recover guns in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspects for alleged cultism and armed robbery in the state.

The suspects, Oluwatobi Olugbemi (29), Raphael Chukwuemeka (23), Solomon Offor (22), Ifesinachi Nwankeze (19), and Ambrose Ugwuba (23), were arrested with arms and ammunition.

The police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspects were arrested by operatives at different locations in the state.

He said four of the suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search operation on the road.

According to him, one locally made single-barrel, cut-to-size gun, cartridges, and a dagger, all concealed in a bag, were recovered from them.

He said one of the suspects, Olugbemi, was arrested in the Ibusa community following an intelligence report. Upon searching his residence, one Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition was recovered from him.

He said during the investigation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Vikings Confraternity.

He added that the investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court.
