Police in Kano State have arrested 51 suspected thugs, who have been terrorising the state by fighting rival gangs with dangerous weapons.
The police conducted a clearance operation in criminal hideouts in some parts of Kano metropolis, including Kano Municipal, Dala, Gwale and Tarauni Local Government Areas, specifically Kofar Mata, Zage, Kurna, Rijiyar Lemo, Dorayi, Hotoro, and Sheka Quarters.
Deputy police spokesman, DSP Hussaini Abdullahi, said the three-day operation led to the arrest and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs, insisting that the command is determined to decisively tackle thuggery and its associated crimes.
Kano, in recent times, has been witnessing frequent clashes among rival thugs as well as phone snatching in broad daylight.
