The Delta State Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists in connection with alleged cult-related violence and killings in the state.
The suspects, identified as Warri Ochuko (40), Lucky Okohwoake (23), Richard William (28), Onorode Pius (27), Sunday Jakpor (20), Victory Ogbemudia, Raymond Arhiakpore (39), and Precious Wanogho (34), were arrested in Ughelli and its environs.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, the suspects were apprehended during an operation to dismantle a network linked to recent cult clashes in Ughelli town.
Acting on intelligence, the CP stated that police first arrested two suspects in Warri. Their subsequent confessions led to the arrest of the remaining six members of the syndicate.
He noted that during the investigation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. They also admitted to involvement in the killing of one Alex Adanike on Jan. 15, 2026, in the Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the first two suspects, according to the CP, include one locally made gun and four live cartridges.
