The Yobe State Police Command has arrested eight individuals suspected of being part of a syndicate responsible for a recent increase in burglaries, theft and phone snatching in major cities across the state.

SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the State Police Public Relations Officer, said the command had received numerous reports of shops and four residential houses being broken into, with items worth millions of naira stolen, including motorcycles.

He said acting on intelligence, operatives from the ‘A’ Division police headquarters launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended four suspects who specialize in housebreaking and shop burglary, primarily operating at night.

He said police also arrested four other suspects in Damaturu and Potiskum LGAs.

He said the suspects are notorious for receiving and illegally selling stolen items, including motorcycles.
