Police arrest 8 suspects over theft, receiving stolen items in Jigawa

The Police in Jigawa have arrested eight suspects over alleged theft and receiving stolen items in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, Jinjiri Abdu, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Thursday.

Jinjiri said that four of the suspects, aged between 18 and 19, were apprehended over alleged house breaking and theft in Takur site quarters, Dutse, the state capital.

He added that the four suspects (names withheld) were arrested after they broke into one of the houses and stole a plasma TV, DSTV decoder, iPad, laptop computer, a Tecno mobile phone and two sets of cloth.

The spokesperson said the plasma TV and DSTV decoder were recovered from the suspects during their arrest.

According to him, the suspects are among the 10 suspected thieves the command arrested on May 14, in the same area.

NAN reports that a laptop computer, two sets of plasma Television sets and a number of mobile phones were among the items recovered from the suspects.

Jinjiri  said  that the other four suspects were arrested for allegedly receiving the stolen items.

He said the suspects would soon be charged to court after Investigation.

Investigations by NAN Correspondent in Takur site quarters revealed that the suspects had been terrorising residents of the area, including the neighboring Godiya Miyetti and Olayinka Sule quarters by breaking into shops and houses to steal.

In May, the suspects allegedly broke into over 10 shops and houses and stole foodstuff and other valuables. (NAN)
