The Delta State Police Command said it arrested 86 suspects for various crimes and rescued 18 kidnapped victims between April and June 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed this on Monday during the command’s second-quarter briefing in Asaba.
He said the suspects were arrested for alleged offences including kidnapping, cultism, murder, armed robbery and drug trafficking.
He said 46 of the suspects have been charged in court, while 30 others are still under investigation.
Oyeniyi said the command also recovered 32 firearms, 197 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition and 219 live cartridges during various operations within the period.
The police commissioner further disclosed that seven suspected drug dealers were arrested, with five already arraigned in court.
He said the command recovered various illicit substances, including tramadol, codeine, Rohypnol, Swinol, MDMA (Molly), Canadian Loud, cannabis, Monkey Tail, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), Tianeptine (Zaza), and psychoactive chewing gum, popularly known as “Highness Gum.”
Oyeniyi attributed the achievements to intelligence-led policing and the commitment of officers to tackling crime across the state.
He assured residents that the command would sustain its operations to ensure the safety of lives and property.
“We remain committed to making Delta State safe for all law-abiding residents. We will continue to intensify efforts against criminal elements across the state,” he said.
