Police arrest AIG impersonator, car thief in Sokoto

The police in Sokoto State have arrested one Ibrahim Dangaladima who allegedly claimed to be an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and committed fraudulent activities in Sokoto metropolis and environs. Dangaladima, 40, was said to have been on the police wanted list for many fraudulent and impersonation offences for the past four months.

The spokesperson of the Command, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, said luck ran out on him on November 11 when he pretended to be an AIG and Force Secretary in the police headquarters, Abuja. He was said to have offered nine slots for five cadet ASPs and four cadet inspectors to unsuspecting business man and requested for N604,500 for the nine slots. Nwawe said the suspect was arrested at Mabera area and had confessed to having been in the business for about five years, duping many people.

She added that operatives of the command also arrested one Surajo Muhammad of Arkilla area while trying to steal a car at Shehu Juma’at Mosque in Sokoto.
