The police in Gombe State have arrested three suspected armed bandits and seven others over alleged cases of criminal conspiracy, murder and armed robbery.
A statement issued to newsmen by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the suspects were arrested by police patrol teams in collaboration with vigilante groups in the state.
The police said on September 7, the Divisional Police Officer of Dukku LGA arrested the suspected armed bandits – Hamma Manu, 20; Adamu Manu, 25 and Nura Saleh, 25 – all of Wawa-Zange village in the same LGA over an alleged case of armed robbery.
She said the suspects had conspired and inflicted various degrees of injuries on Dahiru Adamu, Hassan Adamu, and Sa’idu Adamu, during an armed robbery attack.
DSP Malum added that on September 8, the Divisional Police Officer in Balanga LGA of the state, received information that the trio of Jibrin Adamu, 20; Garkuwa Soul, 20 and Babangida Danladi, 26, all residents of Gelengu village of the same LGA, had conspired with others, now at large, where they allegedly attacked and inflicted various degrees of injuries on Hayatu Aliyu, Adamu Gidado and Achado Mohammed all of Talasse town of Balanga.
According to the statement, the victims visited the Gelengu village to buy mobile phones when they were attacked by the suspects.
“As a result of the attack, one of the victims, Hayatu Aliyu died from the injuries he sustained.
He was rushed to the General Hospital, Balanga where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel,” Malum said.
Similarly, the statement added that on September 10, police operatives at Bajoga Divisional Police Office arrested one Garba Safiyanu, 35; Mohammed Gidado, 20, Gidado Babawuro and Buba Yusuf, 20 all of Wawa village of Nafada LGA over alleged criminal conspiracy and attempt to commit armed robbery.
The police PPRO said the suspects were arrested after credible information was received that they were planning to carry out armed robbery attack along Wawa/Birin Bolawa and Nafada-Dukku road.
She said two locally made guns, bows and arrows, cutlasses and two motorcycles, among others, were recovered from them.
DSP Malum said all the suspects were helping with information and would be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
