Police arrest cultists, rescue kidnapped victims in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested Mudia Bakeri and Ohenhen Osasere for allegedly being involved in cultism.

Speaking with journalists, the command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects were arrested at a hotel following credible intelligence.

He said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ekiadolo community received information that hoodlums suspected to be cultists were fomenting trouble at Mega View Hotel in Iwu community.

He said the police mobilised to the scene and arrested two of them while others escaped.

Chidi said the suspects were arrested with one live cartridge.

He said the suspects have confessed to being members of Black Axe confraternity and would soon be charged to court.

In a related development, Chidi said the police have also rescued four kidnapped victims, Robert Blessing, kingsley Peter, Doris Okoduga and Godwin Gideon from kidnappers’ den.

He said the victims were rescued in a forest in Ugboha, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.
