The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a driver who allegedly killed two policemen in Orita Challenge area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The suspected drunk driver, Daily Trust learnt, killed the two officers attached to the Special Rapid Squad (SRS), on Friday night.

It was gathered that the officers were hit by the driver and reportedly died as a result of the accident. 

A witness said the policemen, who had just finished washing their operational vehicle at a car wash in the area, were about entering the vehicle when they were hit by the driver. 

Another witness said the driver was discovered to have been drunk. 

The spokesman of the police in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu, while confirming the incident to reporters, said the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, has ordered thorough investigation into the incident. 

“The erring driver is in our custody,” he said, adding that the suspect would be charged to court after completion of investigation.
