The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Kehinde Joseph, and his 13-year-old son for allegedly possessing a firearm and ammunition.
They were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation by the command’s Quick Response Squad along the Sagamu/Ogijo Road.
Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the teenage boy was intercepted in a tricycle around the Lafarge area at about 11am on Sunday.
A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and a mask.
“The suspect could not give a satisfactory account of the items but claimed the firearm belonged to his father,” Babaseyi said.
Following the disclosure, the police arrested the father, and both suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police said they would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
