The police have arrested four  suspects  in connection with the attack on the convoy of the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo,  last Friday in the area. 

Daily Trust on Sunday, had reported that eight persons were injured during a clash  that ensued between some Gbagyi and Hausa youth groups, after there was an attack  on the convoy of the traditional ruler’s convoy.

The hoodlums smashed the windscreen  of a white Toyota Corolla car on the convoy of the traditional ruler who was on his way to observe  Juma’at prayer in the area. 

A police source at the Kwali police divisional headquarters, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the arrest to our reporter yesterday, adding that the suspects  had been taken to the FCT police command.

“In fact,  even as I speak with you, four  suspects who are the main culprits  behind  the attack on the traditional ruler are still in detention  at the FCT police command, as investigations are still ongoing  to arrest more suspects,” he said. 

The source  said soldiers, policemen and civil defence officials have been drafted  to various locations within the metropolis, including  market and the central mosque against any reprisal attack  from  any of the youth groups.

The Kwali Divisional  Police Officer (DPO) CSP Lambat Dauda,  declined comment on the arrest and referred our reporter to the FCT police command spokesman.

When contacted, the command spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah,  said he was busy,  saying  he will get back to our reporter later. 

Meanwhile, the chairman of the council, Mr. Joseph K.  Shazin,  said he summoned a security meeting on Saturday, and deliberated over the incident. 

He said he could not make the outcome of the meeting  public but assured that the FCT minister,  Muhammad Musa Bello,  had sent a team to the council to get details  about  the incident and the issue will soon be resolved.

The council chairman also confirmed the arrest of four suspects  in connection  with the incident.
