Parading the suspects, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, said the suspects were arrested following investigation into a case of conspiracy and fraud reported by one Oseni Prisca Modupe.

He said the victim reported that some time in March, 2023, she logged into a dating site on the internet in search of a life partner and that a man who claimed to be Mr Lee Chan, an America-based white man, accepted to marry her.

Chidi said Thankgod Okhan and one of his accomplices, Nelson Ebinu, after defrauding the woman of the car, sold it to Ehis at N650,000, adding that the vehicle had been recovered from the suspects.

He noted that the suspects had confessed to being members of a gang of internet fraudsters who went about defrauding female victims with the pretense of marrying them.

He explained that ThankGod created a dating site for elderly women and presented himself as a white man, Mr Lee Chan and that he again presented himself as a Nigeria customs officer who would process a visa for her and demanded N1.5m.
