The Police have arrested some officials of the Imo state government during the presidential elections in Imo state today.

Daily Trust correspondent in Imo state, reports that the State Commissioners of Information and Strategy (Engr) Chidi Ibe and former Commissioner for Public Utility and head of Security were arrested.

Also arrested is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha , Sam Onwuemeodo.

Governor Okorocha confirmed the arrests to journalists after accreditation in the presidential election earlier today.

Daily Trust also gathered that Barrister Okechukwu Okorocha (not a relative of the Governor) was also arrested by police on election duty in Imo state.

Barrister Okorocha who is said to be an SSA on security matters to the governor heads the state vigilante group ordered to disarm during the election period by the police.

The SSA is said to have disobeyed the police order and was allegedly arrested in possession of a fire arm.

Daily Trust also learnt that two of the officials(names not known yet) have been discharged at the time of filing this report.
