The Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested a kidnap suspect, Edidiong Bill, alleged to have collected N4.5 million ransom from his victims.

The Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, said the suspect confessed to be the overall leader of Vikings, a secret cult in Akwa Ibom State.

He said the command also arrested one Okon Essien who killed his son who he accused of being a wizard by forcing him to drink a concoction prepared with a poisonous seed called ‘asene’ and latter buried the corpse in a shallow grave.

Ahmed also noted that two others, David Asuquo and Gabriel Udofia, were also arrested for robbing one Uwem Chemist of N500,000 at gunpoint on April 15 in Ikot Ambang in Ibiono Ibom LGA.

He said the command on April 4 also arrested a notorious cultist, John Effiong, 29, who also specialised in armed robbery operations in Etim Ekpo LGA.

The kidnap suspect, Edidiong Bill, said lack of a father figure in his life while growing up, was why he took to crime and blamed his father for his actions.
