The police in Ekiti State have arrested the alleged killer of a traditional ruler in the state.
The traditional ruler of Odo Oro in Ikole Local Government Area, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin, was reportedly stabbed with a knife on Monday after meeting with his chiefs on matters affecting the community.
The suspect was alleged to have escaped into the bush which prompted a manhunt for him.
The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said yesterday that the culprit has been apprehended. He identified the suspect as one Omoniyi Ademola Stephen.
Ikechukwu stated that Ademola was arrested about 4.30pm on Monday near Ajao market in Ado-Ekiti.
He said: “The suspect has been arrested and is under investigation. He confessed to the act and our investigation continues. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”
Ikechukwu assured that the police would be professional in investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.
