The police in Imo State have arrested the suspected killers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in the state, Mr. Amos Akano.

Akano was abducted before the just concluded APC national convention and his body was found some days after.

Our correspondent gathered that Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) operatives led by its commander, Mr. Godfrey Victor, swooped on the gang while they were waiting to collect ransom from the deceased’s relatives.

According to the state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, the suspects were arrested in Ihiala in Anambra State. 

The CP who gave the names of the suspects as Ikenna Nwosu, aka Ezego; Chibuike Martins; Emeka Eke; Chijioke Akukara and Adubuokwu Chibueze, said the gang operated between Imo and Anambra states.

Galadanchi said the rounding up of the suspects was a major breakthrough in crime fighting and prevention in the state.
