Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Tega Best, for allegedly staging his own kidnap in Edo State.
It was gathered that the incident happened in Okhue community on Friday when the suspect faked his own kidnap.
It was learnt that after the alleged kidnapping, his accomplices called his family members and demanded an undisclosed amount for his freedom.
The police were said to have been informed of the incident, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Our reporter also gathered that during investigation, it was discovered that the suspect faked his own kidnap with the intention of collecting money from his parents.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Edo State command, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
He said the suspect was in police custody and would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was completed.
