Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man identified as Gospel Victor, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in the state.

The incident, it was gathered, happened at Ewhohimi community in Esan South East local government of the state.

It was gathered that the incident happened on January 13, when the suspect lured the minor into his room and had canal knowledge of her.

It was further learnt that the scream by the victim attracted neighbours to the place.

It was also learnt that the minor sustained injury in the process and was taken to the hospital by the police.

The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

He said the incident was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested promptly by the police.

He added that the suspect was in police custody and would be charged to court.
