A suspected ritualist, Yusuf Adinohi, has been arrested in Isua-Akoko in Akoko South East LGA of Ondo State for allegedly being in possession of eight human skulls.
Adinohi (37) was arrested by a combined security team at a checkpoint in the Ase area of Isua Akoko while on his way to Osogbo, Osun State, from Okene in Kogi State.
City & Crime learnt that the suspect was intercepted and arrested inside a commercial vehicle with Reg No: LKJ 148 AJ, being driven by one Kabiru Abubakar.
Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Ondo, Abayomi Oladipo, said the suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search exercise.
Mr Oladipo said the security agencies, upon search of the vehicle, eight smelling dried human skulls hidden inside a bag of garri and a handful of charms and amulets were discovered.
He further said, “Upon investigation, one of the passengers of the vehicle, Yusuf Adinohi, of about 37 years old, admitted being the owner of the eight smelly dry skulls, and that he was going to Osogbo around Oke-Onitea area to deliver the skulls to one Opeifa, a herbalist.
“He equally mentioned other customers he usually supplies human skulls to, including Almonso who lives at Oke-Onitea, Osogbo; Alfaa Agba who lives at Oke Ontea; and also Oshoyemi who resides around Oja Oba area.
“The suspect further confessed that the human skulls were usually handed over to him by one Imaila living at Oboroke in Okene, and that each head was being sold for between N30,000 and N35,000).”
The police chief added that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further investigation.
