The Police Command in Enugu State said it has arrested a suspected murderer and cultist, Nnaemeka Aniamalu, who had been disturbing the peace at the coal camp axis of Enugu.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.

Amaraizu said the Anti-Cult Unit of the command recovered a locally-made double-barrel pistol from the 26-year-old “notorious suspect’’ arrested on July 15 through intelligence information and swift response of operatives of the unit.

“The suspect has been on police wanted list for the murder of one Obumneke Chinegbundu alias Obumneme of Colliery Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu, on Jan. 21, 2019.

“Since then, the suspect escaped and allegedly took refuge in military barracks in Onitsha, Anambra.

“From the barracks, he always came to Enugu for series of cult activities and armed robbery.

“He was arrested in a hotel he lodged in Enugu through intelligence information on his movement and activities,’’ he said.

In a related development, SP Amaraizu disclosed on Saturday that the police have also arrested two suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted one Charles Enejere, in the state.

The police also recovered two automatic pump action guns, two single barrel guns, some charms and N187,000 cash from the suspects, he said.

He gave the names of the suspects as Hyacinth Okeh, 22, and Frederick Okweli, 20, both from Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state.

“The two suspects were arrested following their involvement in the kidnap of one Charles Enejere.

“Enejere happens to be their third victim within three months,’’ adding that all the suspects would soon be charged to court. (NAN)
