Operatives of the Ogun Police Command have arrested one Esuruoso Tunde, a suspected member of the dreaded Eiye confraternity who attacked lodgers at LADIS Hotel, situated at Ebenezer Junction, Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday.

The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the policemen at Obantoko police division that the said hotel was under attack by suspected cultists.

The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen yesterday that following the distress call, the DPO of Obantoko, SP Ignatius Alimiekena, mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.

He said the hotel premises were cordoned off by the policemen, making it difficult for the hoodlums who had mingled with the customers to get out of the premises.

He said: “Search was properly conducted on everybody in the premises and a locally fabricated double barrel shotgun with one expended cartridge was found on Esuruoso Tunde.”

 He said during the interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of Eiye confraternity, saying “the gun was given to him by one of his colleagues simply known as “Scatter.”

Oyeyemi said the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-cultists section of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for discreet investigation.

He also directed that his other accomplices must be hunted for and brought to justice.
