Three of the suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked a corpers’ lodge and cut off the hand of a serving corps member in Bayelsa have been arrested.

It was gathered that the suspects, alongside one other attacked the corps members in their lodge at Angalabiri community of Sagbama Local Government on Sunday, robbed them and cut off the hand of Julius Luntis.

The arrest of the suspects, according to the police, was made possible by the indigenes of the community who were shocked by the acts and volunteered information to the police.  

The arrested suspects are one Mosan Moses Youdougha, 22, Godswill Vincent, 21, and Prince Ikerewu, 19, from Ofoni community who was arrested through the assistance of the youths from the village.  

Confirming the arrests, Bayelsa State police spokesperson, DSP Astimin Butswat, said investigation was ongoing to arrest the fourth suspect involved in the attack, who is at large at the moment.  

The command also announced the arrest of 15-year-old Emmanuel Apiakise, with a locally made pistol during school hours along the Akenfa-Epie area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. 

The suspect, who is an SS2 student of Community Secondary school, Akenfa-Epie, was arrested while in school uniform by some indigenes of Akenfa community led by the local vigilante committee.  

Sources confirmed that the student was accosted and searched by the vigilant youths after he was fingered by some indigenes.  

But some other source claimed the boy was arrested in the classroom after a tip off by his school mate. 

The management of the school has dismissed the claim as untrue and insisted that the suspect was not their student.  

The suspect has already been handed over to the Akenfa Divisional Police Station for investigation.
