The police yesterday said it arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Taoreed Oyeyemi, 27, whose gang has been terrorizing residents of Ajegunle and its environs.

The police said the suspect was on his way to attack residents of Fatima Lane, Ajegunle when he was accosted by a team of policemen on a stop and search duty.

It alleged that a locally made pistol was recovered from the suspect.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed the arrest said the suspect had attempted to bolt away when he sighted the police.

He said the recovered gun was found under the belt holder of the suspect. 

“Investigations conducted by policemen revealed that the suspect and his gang were involved in series of armed robbery attacks in the area. 

“He was on his way to attack some traders who were on their way to the market. Fortunately, he was accosted and arrested by policemen who were on duty. 

“The suspect is currently giving useful information to the police on the activities of his criminal gang. The case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,” he added.
