Police arrest son for allegedly killing father in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, for allegedly killing his biological father, Salisu Abubakar (57), with a machete.

The incident, our reporter learnt, occurred on May 5, 2025, at about 10am in Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District, Gwaram Local Government Area of the state.

The victim sustained injuries on his shoulder, neck, and chest and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, where he was pronounced dead.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigation, assuring that justice will be served.

He said, ‘’The case is currently under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.’’

According to him, the state Police Commissioner, AT Abdullahi, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse to take over the case for discreet investigation.
